The destination

Agadir and its surroundings

Agadir curves around a broad Atlantic bay, its sandy beach stretching for kilometres beneath a promenade and a modern marina. The city was rebuilt after the 1960 earthquake, and the restored walls of the old kasbah still crown the hill above the port.

Beyond the city, the coast runs north to the surf villages of Tamraght and Taghazout, while inland roads climb into the Atlas foothills towards Paradise Valley. Marrakech lies some 250 km away across the mountains.

  • ~19 kmto Taghazout, along the coast
  • ~1 hourby road to Paradise Valley
  • ~3 hourseach way to Marrakech
